La De John Holmes ESPN'S Ten Historic Fights In Boxing History?

ESPN'S Ten Historic fights in Boxing History? - la de john holmes

ESPN has the 10 boxing matches in history. Each fight was not always exciting, but had a signifigance in the history of boxing.

The list is as follows:
10. Larry Holmes Gerry Cooney TKO 13
9. Sugar Ray Robinson Randy Turpin TKO 10
8. Jack Johnson TKO15 James J. Jeffries
7. Julio César Chávez, Pernell Whitaker D12
6. Felix Trinidad W12 Oscar De La Hoya
5. Marvelous Marvin Hagler KO3 Thomas Hearns
4. W10 Gene Tunney Jack Dempsey II
3. Muhammad Ali George Foreman KO8
2. Max Schmeling, Joe Louis KO1
1. Joe Frazier W15 Muhammad Ali

Now I agree that each of these arguments have played a watershed in the history of boxing, but I think that ESPN let some other fights that time had won in the history of boxing. Here are some of my selectionbe considered.

KO14 Bob Fitzsimmons, Jim Corbett
Michael Carbajal González KO7 Chicquita I
Sugar Ray Leonard KO14 Thomas Hearns I
Floyd Patterson KO 5-game Johanson II
Roy Jones Jr. W12 John Ruiz
Any other thoughts?

This is an interesting list and a good question. I agree with many of the battles that only as Holmes vs. Cooney when it eagerly awaited and Trinidad-De La Hoya vs. vs. Turpin and Robinson Chavez vs Whitaker. Of course, it's just my opinion. Here is my list of the most important battles in the history or the history of boxing in no particular order:

Louis 2 vs. Schmeling. Louis tried his losses professional revenge as a result of Hitler's statements about the superiority of the Aryan race. Poor Max was a pawn of evil dictators. The savage beating he took in a tour of Max Louis was devastating.

Ali v. Frazier 1st The first true super fight in CCTV glorified. Two undefeated fighters, and Ali fight for the title, and many thought it was really. A large part of the building to be exccitement never forget.

Johnson vs. Jeffries. Jack Johnson was so hated by the public of boxing because of his marriage for white women and how they make a long nose, the white society, it became necessary to find a great hope. Of course, Jeffries was no match for Johnson.

2 vs. Patterson Johansson. What value could be historic as a man to win the heavyweight champion, who captured his first title? Patterson was beaten by Johansson in their first fight, but took revenge in a historic way.

Dempsey v. Carpentier. Long before it became a Super Fight Super Fight, and currently the biggest attraction in BoXING Acres Boyles fought in history. Dempsey beat France is very popular.

Holmes vs. Spinks 1st Holmes was undefeated 48-0 and had Spinks beat match record of 49-0 Marciano, but without a questionable decision loss to Michael Spinks.

Marciano vs. Walcott 1. Marciano had beaten a man over 12 rounds against Walcott. Then in the fateful cycle 13 of the right hand a crushing Marciano, Jersey Joe sent crumbling to the canvas for the ten. Of course, Marciano came to an undefeated record of 49-0.

Ali vs. Foreman. Not much Ali has given many chances to beat the undefeated Foreman and powerful. He has many friends in Zaire, and used the now famous series of "Dope strategy to exhaust Masters and reached Patterson &# 039; s brand at the time of regaining the title of champion.

Dempsey Firpo disadvantages. This famous battle at the Polo Grounds as Firpo Enver has advised the Manassa Mauler through the ropes into oblivion. Somehow, perhaps with a little help, Jack came into the ring and beat Argentina in size.

Ali v. Frazier 3rd The Thriller in Manila celebrated. This was probably the best match between the two big guys are so close to life and death in the ring, as someone who has never seen. Difficult to see that the theater FAF to beat in the struggle continues.

Douglas / Tyson ---- Baer vs. Braddock. Of course, these battles were significant unrest. If Braddock beat Baer, who feared he would be badly hit in the hands of the masters of the heavy hand. Not only win, but an inspiration for me wasMillion during the Great Depression. Tyson was invincible, and one of the best fighters ever fight with Douglas heart and desire of her mother, shocked the boxing world fundamentally at odds with the goal and beat the seemingly invincible Tyson.

Dempsey v. pasture 2nd Who could forget the famous "long count? Tunney, apparently on its way to another easy decision, when in the 7th Round Dempsey landed blow after blow, and sent Dempsey Tunney down slowly to take a neutral corner. Tunney, on course after a while got up and won. Probably one of the most talked fight.

Hagler vs Hearns. This was a war in the ring! Hearns Hagler success with everything but the kitchen sink, especially in the first ROUs hit with two men nonstop. Many call this the greatest fight of all time.

Chavez pulls me from Whitaker and Trinidad beat De La Hoya whipped cream. These 2 fights have been included to appease clearly on the list for the fans of boxing too. I have no idea why Robinson-Turpin was on the list, unless the need for a place Robinson. It was a nice touch to add Cooney Holmes, I believe that people somehow forget what the fight that night, in the time before that.

I agree with you more Hearns Leonard 1 (147 pound fight every time) and Leonard-Hagler, Schmeling Louis1 and Douglas-Tyson added. Can anyone not named Marciano-Walcott? This seems obvious.

I would probably Manny Pacquiao vs. Marco Antonio Barrera in the mix ... This was the battle in which every Mexican fighter wanted to fight with him and him to his acceptance of Barrera in the 11th Round ... another good fight would be Jones vs. Tarver .. that the fight that Jones had learned the lesson, until .... should plus the weight of Tyson and Lewis ... Tyson said **** soo much that had Lennox, his mouth very close ... In the end, Tyson was the promotion of fair ...

These were the great battles in boxing history ....

I do not understand the signifigance of the draw with Pernell CCM. It was a good fight, but I think Pernell won clean and clear. Besides being one of the worst flights in the history of the sport as another historic signifigance not in the fight against this? (It is, as a challenge for you just do not understand understand why he is on the list)
